Stappenplan: maak elk oppervlak magnetisch

Wil je graag een oppervlak om al jouw herinneringen of belangrijke papieren op bij te houden, maar een magneetbord is niets voor jou?

Dan is magneetverf de ideale oplossing voor jouw project !

Nu je weet dat je magneetverf wilt gebruiken voor jouw project heb je waarschijnlijk nog een aantal vragen zoals: gebruik je best een borstel of een roller? Moet je de ondergrond voorbereiden?

Om al jouw antwoorden te beantwoorden en jouw project tot een goed einde te brengen hebben wij dit handige stappenplan voor jouw samengesteld. Hier vind je alle producten terug die je nodig hebt én nog een aantal tips hoe je jouw magneetproject nog meer kunt personaliseren.

Stap 1: voorbereiding

Pretreated surfaces

By pretreated surfaces we mean surfaces that have already been varnished, stained, or painted.

It is important to apply the paint to a clean, dry and dust-free surface. Clean the surface with a soda-based cleaner, rinse it and let it dry for a while. When the surface is completely dry you can sand it smooth with 240-grit sandpaper, afterward remove all dust.

If you only want to paint part of a surface use painter's tape to tape off the parts not to be painted. If necessary, you can place a plastic sheet on the floor to protect the floor.

Untreated surface

Untreated surfaces include untreated wood, MDF and OSB.

Sand the surface with 240-grit sandpaper until you obtain a smooth surface, and remove all dust.

If you only want to paint part of a surface use painter's tape to tape off the parts not to be painted. If necessary, you can place a plastic sheet on the floor to protect the floor.

Stap 2: schilderen

Which tool? How many layers?

Roller or brush?

Regardless of which tool you use, it is important to mix the magnetic paint thoroughly with a stir stick before use and do this periodically during application to keep the metal particles in suspension. You do not want to use magnetic paint that does not contain metal particles!

Once the paint is well mixed you can apply the magnetic paint to your prepared surface with a flat brush, such as the 'la brosse à lisser' from Libéron or with a foam paint roller such as the paint roller foam from Progold.

Work both horizontally and vertically and level in the same direction to obtain a nice smooth effect. Allow each coat to dry for 4 hours.

How many layers?

For ideal performance it is best to apply at least 3 coats, if you are going to apply wall paint over this afterward you can certainly go up to 5 coats. The more coats you apply the better the magnets will adhere.

Welke merken hebben magnetische verf?

Momenteel zijn er een aantal merken die magnetische verf aanbieden waaronder Libéron, Magpaint en Little Stars. Zowel de prijzen als de kwaliteit van deze verven liggen vrij gelijk.

Stap 3: personalisatie

Magneetverf heeft standaard altijd een grijze kleur maar dat wil niet zeggen dat je deze niet kan personaliseren. Indien je genoeg lagen magneetverf hebt aangebracht (dus minstens 3) kan je over elke magneeverf een watergedragen muurverf zetten in kleur naar keuze.

Zo laat jij jouw magneetbord hellemeel opgaan in jouw interieur.

Wil je jouw magneetverf nog een extra touch geven? Waarom dan niet combineren met schoolbord verf !

Het is perfect mogelijk om magnetische verf te combineren met schoolbordverf. Zo krijg je een multifunctioneel oppervlak waar je makkelijk papieren op kan hangen en kantekeningen op kan schrijven in krijt. Ideaal dus voor bijvoorbeeld de kinderkamer of een kantoorruimte.
