Product questions
Sigma Perfect Matt is a high-quality, extremely matt wall and ceiling paint based on a 100% acrylic binder. This paint is renowned for its Smooth Layer Technology: a unique formula that ensures the paint dries to a beautifully smooth finish, without any brush marks, streaks or overlaps being visible — even under difficult, raking light.
Whether you’re an experienced painter or picking up a brush for the first time, Sigma Perfect Matt combines an unrivalled, flawless finish with optimum ease of application.
With Sigma Perfect Matt, painting is surprisingly easy. Thanks to its unique formula, the coats blend seamlessly into one another. Follow these steps for a streak-free, professional finish:
Preparation: Ensure the wall or ceiling is free of dust and grease, using a product such as Berdy Clearline. Cover anything you do not want to paint and mask the edges carefully.
Application: If the wall has been painted before, looks clean and is undamaged, you can get started. It’s best to apply the paint with a paint roller such as the Progold paint roller antisplatter. Start with the corners that are hardest to reach. It’s best to do this with a good-quality brush. Next, it’s very important to roll in different directions to prevent streaks.

Sigma Perfect Matt dries quickly, which means you can often complete a painting job in a single day.
The paint is generally dust-dry after about 1 hour and can be recoated after about 4 hours. However, we recommend waiting a little longer to ensure that the first coat is thoroughly dry. As with almost any water-based wall paint, the paint film takes about a month to reach its maximum hardness and scrub class 1 (cleanability). So be careful when cleaning the wall during the first few weeks. Another important point to note: the drying time depends on the environment. At lower temperatures, high humidity or when applying a very thick coat of paint, the drying process may take slightly longer.
Yes, Sigma Perfect Matt is very easy to clean. According to the European standard (EN 13300), the paint has the highest possible cleanability rating: Scrub Class 1. This means that the paint finish is extremely hard-wearing and that you can effortlessly remove dirt or stains using a damp cloth and a mild, neutral cleaning product. Unlike many other matt wall paints, this paint will not become shiny or glossy when rubbed with a cloth. However, do wait about 3 to 4 weeks before doing this, as the paint will only be fully dry by then.
If, however, you’re looking for a paint designed to tackle heavy or greasy stains and which is ideal for rooms where walls get dirty quickly or where it’s damp, be sure to take a look at Sigma Pearl Clean Matt.
How much Sigma Perfect Matt do you need?
Not sure whether you need 10 litres or a combination of 5 litres, 2.5 litres and 1 litre? Then take a look at our handy guide to find out how much you can (probably) cover with each pot size.
| Contents | Coverage with 1 coat | Coverage with 2 coats |
|---|---|---|
| 1 litre, white or mix colour | ± 10 m² | ± 5 m² |
| 2,5 litres, white or mix colour | ± 25 m² | ± 12,5 m² |
| 5 litres, White or mix colour | ± 50 m² | ± 25 m² |
| 10 litres, white or mix colour | ± 100 m² | ± 50 m² |
Conclusion: with Sigma Perfect Matt, you can probably cover between 8 and 11 m² in a single coat with 1 litre. To make the calculation easier, we’ll assume an average coverage of 10 m² per litre. With 1 litre, you can therefore cover approximately 1 litre, and with 10 litres, you can cover approximately 100 m². When you need to apply two coats, you count half the surface area, so 1 litre covers 5 m² in two coats, and so on.
Please note that there is no exact formula for calculating the amount of paint you’ll need. It depends, for example, on the condition of your walls (whether they’re porous or not) and your painting technique (whether you use a lot of paint or not). We always recommend ordering slightly less paint. You can simply order a little more later if necessary.
Good news! You can have almost any colour made in this fantastic paint. Have the paint mixed to one of the many Sigma colours from the Voice of Colour collection, or opt for an NCS or RAL colour. A colour from other collections is also no problem.
Some of the most frequently ordered colours are RAL 9010, RAL 9016 and Castle White. RAL 9001, cream white, is also a popular choice.
