Water-based or solvent-based?
Water-based paint and synthetic paint differ mainly in their solvent: water for the former, white spirit or other solvents for the latter. Water-based paint is low-odour, healthier, and more environmentally friendly because it does not release harmful substances. Moreover, it does not yellow and dries faster.
Although synthetic paints used to be stronger, this is not the case today provided proper application. Both paints can be used indoors and outdoors, depending on requirements. Latex or acrylic wall paint?
Latex wall paint is ideal for large areas because it is easy and quick to apply, with good coverage and little splashing. Acrylic wall paint is versatile, fast-drying and suitable for a variety of substrates, both indoors and outdoors. So which kind of paint you prefer depends a bit on your own preferences.
