Xyladecor Tuinhoutolie – Protective oil for garden wood
Xyladecor Tuinhoutolie/ Garden wood oil is a water-based oil specifically developed to nourish and protect new or lightly weathered garden wood. It preserves the natural beauty of the wood without the risk of peeling.
Description
Xyladecor Tuinhoutolie is the ideal solution for those who want to preserve the natural appearance of wood while seeking deep protection. This oil is specifically intended for treating garden wood such as pergolas, fences, flower boxes, and wooden bridges. Unlike lacquer or stain, oil penetrates deeper into the wood fibers, nourishing the wood from the inside and protecting it against wood rot and greying. Additionally, oil does not form a film layer, meaning it cannot crack or flake.
Thanks to its water-repellent properties and excellent protection against UV rays, your wood stays beautiful for longer, even under the influence of changing weather conditions. Furthermore, the water-based formula ensures fast drying and user-friendly application without a strong odor.
Key features
- Deep nourishment and protection: Penetrates deep into the wood to keep it supple and protect it against the elements.
- UV-resistant: Contains high-quality filters that enrich the natural wood color and delay the typical greying caused by the sun.
- Does not peel: Because the oil soaks into the wood instead of forming a film, there is no risk of peeling or flaking.
- Water-repellent: Prevents moisture from penetrating deep into the wood, significantly extending the lifespan of your garden structures.
- Fast-drying and low odor: Thanks to the water-based formula, your project is finished quickly, and brushes are easy to clean with water.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is thisgarden wood oil a good choice for my wooden fence?
Absolutely. Xyladecor Tuinhoutolie is excellently suited for vertical surfaces such as fences, screens, and pergolas. It accentuates the natural grain of the wood while forming a durable barrier against rain and sun.
For which types of wood is this oil suitable?
This oil is ideally suited for softwoods (conifers) that are new or only lightly weathered. For hardwoods, we often recommend more specific oils, such as Xyladecor Terrasolie.
How many layers do I need?
For optimal saturation and protection, it is best to apply 2 layers. On highly absorbent wood, a third layer may be necessary until the wood no longer absorbs the oil.
What is the best way to apply Xyladecor Tuinhoutolie?
Ensure the wood is dry, clean, and free of grease. Stir the garden wood oil thoroughly before use. Apply the oil evenly with a flat brush in the direction of the wood grain. For large surfaces, a pressure sprayer or roller can also be used, but always finish by brushing the oil to ensure the best result.
Do I need to treat the wood beforehand?
For new wood located outdoors, we recommend first using an impregnating agent such as Xyladecor Tuinhoutbeschermer as preventive protection against fungi and wood rot, before applying the oil.
Which colors are available in Xyladecor Tuinhoutolie?
This garden wood oil can be ordered colorless under the color "Naturel". Please note, because an oil nourishes your wood from the inside, your wood may still look slightly different. Additionally, you can choose from colored garden wood oils in Grey Wash and Light Brown. We always recommend testing the color first on a small, inconspicuous area.
Why should Xyladecor Tuinhoutolie Naturel not be applied as the first layer?
Never apply Tuinhoutolie Naturel as a standalone system; this color provides no protection against UV rays, which will cause your wood to grey quickly. What is a better approach? One layer of colored oil finished with Naturel is possible. This is ideal if you are concerned that multiple layers of colored oil will make your wood too dark.
Why buy Xyladecor Tuinhoutolie instead of Tuinhoutbeits (Garden Wood Stain)?
Oil and stain differ slightly. If you want to learn more about the differences and similarities between oil and stain, read our thorough explanation here. For now, in short: for garden wood that has been planed smooth, it is better to use this garden wood oil instead of Xyladecor Tuinhoutbeits. The stain is more suitable for rough wood.
